Coil overs...or lowering springs???

Ok im dropping my car and I have been told to not get coil overs because they make the ride really stiff? Does anyone have coilovers and how do they feel? That or I can get lowering springs but im not too sure, any suggestions?? Im looking to spend around $500

I have coilovers and i like them. I went with them over springs b/c of where i live. I live around lake Erie so i see a good deal of snow and i wanted to be able to raise it up in the winter so i wasn't a Honda snowplow. The overall ride is a bit stiff but nothing that i can't handle. If you run the amount of air that suspose to be in the tire and you don't pump it up to the max psi than the ride is pretty smooth.

Ok cool, are they just in place of your old springs? and how easy are they to adjust?

I have them and the stock struts. I'm goin to get some KYB's or tokico's when i get motivated to order them. When some better struts it ought to make the ride better. If you live somewhere where it snows a lot than i would go with coilovers. I would rather not have my car lowered all year round and have the oil pan hang into the snow and hit ice. Oh another thing...whatever you get you may need to get a camber kit. If you go lower than 1.5 inches( i think that it is) than you will need to get a cmaber kit so you don't kill the inside of the tire. I just got a camber kit from ingalls for 140 i have yet to install it.

coilovers replace youre stock springs, adjusting them just takes no more then 20 mins for all 4[jack up all sides, adjust, lower]
i recomend buying quality coilovers either Ground Control or skunk2 . GCs are about 300 and Skunk2s are about 250
also you are gonna need new shocks too. since youre on a budget id say go with KYB AGX shocks. they run $300 for the set

I had the choice and got H&R Sport springs, because they are progressive and give a better feel. I have driven cars equiped with coilovers and found the ride too harsh. they did not take the small hits well at all... the advantage of coil overs is that you can adjust the ride hight... rase it up for the winder drop it for summer.

just don't buy anything cheap.

If you get a good set of coilovers, with decent spring rates for your specific setup, the shocks are of high quality, and the coilovers are all corner weighted so they are balanced out. They can be VERY streetable. My friends CRX with 350lb front springs and 400ld rear springs rode just as good on the street if not better than my eibach prokit springs with tockio illiuma shocks. If you are thinking of gettin cheap coilovers...don't. Your far better off spending the money one decent springs than some cheap boucy ass coilovers.

and $160 for install.
they ride really good considering i have my stock shocks in.
